FAQ

What does it mean that these speakers are optimised for Sonos Amp?
When these speakers are connected to Sonos Amp, Amp will automatically detect them, and automatically adjust the sound to be best for that speaker. This is only possible because we designed the speakers from the ground up with Sonance. This also means the indoor models (In-Wall and In-Ceiling) are the only passive speakers to support Sonos’s Trueplay tuning, which tunes the system to the room environment.
Will all three speakers support Trueplay?
No, only the In-Wall and In-Ceiling speakers will support Trueplay. The Outdoor speakers will not, since the outdoor environment is not favourable to Trueplay.
How many pairs of speakers can be installed together on a single Sonos Amp?
The Sonos Amp has been designed to power up to three pairs of Sonos Architectural speakers on a single Sonos Amp.
Can I use these speakers with amplifiers other than Sonos Amp?
The Sonos Architectural speakers will work with most amplifiers. However, you will not be able to take advantage of the TruePlay room-tuning capabilities with any amplifier other than Sonos Amp.
Can Sonos Architectural speakers be installed outdoors?
Only the Sonos Outdoor by Sonance model is rated for outdoor use. The In-Wall and In-Celling models are not rated for outdoor use and should only be installed indoors.
What type of wire should be used to connect my speakers to Sonos Amp?
We recommend using wire that is 16 ga or larger. For the in-wall and in-ceiling speakers, we recommend using wire rated to be buried inside walls and ceilings. For the outdoor speakers, we recommend using wire that is rated for outdoor use.
How is Sonos One Gen 2 different from the original version?
Gen 2 has an updated processor, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and increased memory.
How do the new processor and increased memory affect the product experience?
Currently there are no feature differences between Sonos One Gen 2 and the original version. The original Sonos One will continue to support all its current features, and more, in the future. Over time, however, the increased memory, Bluetooth Low Energy, and processing power may allow us to bring new product experiences to the Gen 2 version that the original will not be able to support. That said, we have no specific Gen 2-only features planned at this time.
Will Sonos One Gen 2 work in stereo pair and as surrounds with the original Sonos One?
Yes, the Gen 2 works seamlessly with the original Sonos One as a stereo pair or home cinema surrounds.
How does Sonos One Gen 2 use Bluetooth Low Energy?
Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) was first introduced with Sonos Beam, and now we are bringing it to Sonos One Gen 2. Just like with Beam, BLE can be used to communicate temporarily with your phone or tablet to simplify the first-time setup process. BLE does not support audio streaming. Once setup is done, Sonos One Gen 2 streams and updates via your WiFi just like the original Sonos One.
How can I tell which version I have?
Sonos One Gen 2 is marked as “Gen 2” on the product label underneath the speaker. The original Sonos One only has “One” on the product label.

Reviews

Can't I just use my personal music streaming subscription?
You’ll still have to pay licensing fees to use music in your business. Additionally, if you want to get rid of the ads that interrupt the music, you’ll need to pay for a premium subscription on most services. It’s usually more cost effective to subscribe to a music streaming service for business use.
Why do I need a commercial music streaming service?
Composers, musicians, and artists deserve fair compensation, especially when their music offers extra value to your business. As a business owner, you’re legally responsible for paying license fees for music you play in your venue.
What is considered a public performance?
The Copyright Law of the United States defines a public performance of music as, “Music performed in a place open to the public or at any place where a substantial number of persons outside of a normal circle of a family and its social acquaintances is gathered.”
What are Performance Rights Organizations?
BMI, ASCAP, and SESAC are known as the Performance Rights Organizations (PROs) that represent songwriters and music publishers in the United States. If you play music licensed by one of these organizations and don’t have a license from them, you can potentially be held liable for copyright infringement, which can result in thousands of dollars of liability as well as costly legal fees.
